Not only does he have good attack and defense stats for the start of the game, but he's also strong against one type of play early on, so he should be fairly forgiving when players are learning to play. Where the game is right now, we think Crystle is the best Temtem starter. Houchic struggles early in the game until he gains additional abilities, and lower HP is a hindrance. Mental types take less damage Neutral and melee types but take more damage electric, digital and crystal types. Mental types are effective against Neutral and Melee types and are ineffective against crystal types. Unless I am pronouncing it wrong, I assume pewki is pronounced the same as pukey/puky (as in, on the verge of vomiting / disgusting). The top two are pewki and skail, with a third being crystle. Houchic is a Mental type and evolves into Tental at level 30. I love this game, but honestly there are just a couple temtem names that I just can’t live with. The first starter that players can choose is Crystle in this Pokemon-like game. Smazee has excellent attack stats but isn't very effective early in the game due to the lack of early crystal and earth types in the current build. In order to get started in the world of TemTem, players will have to first choose one of three starter creatures to help them challenge and defeat others. The choice is between Crystle, Smazee, and Houchic. Melee types take less damage other types of melee, but take more damage of the Mental and Digital types. Tempedia Entry: Native to Tucma, Crystle are akin to. This Tempedia page covers Crystles location, how to evolve Crystle, Crystles stats, and more. Melee types are effective against Earth and crystal types, but are ineffective against mental types. Crystle is a starter Temtem in Temtem on PC. Smazee is a melee type and evolves into Baboong at level 30. This resistance is important early in the game, as electric types are quite common in the current version of the game. They take less damage electrical, mental and toxic types, but take more damage Fire, Earth and Melee type.Ĭrystle has a good mix of offensive and defensive stats, but more importantly, is resistant to Electric types and deals more damage to them. Unlike the other rare Temtem on this list, it only has one type: Crystal. Crystal types are effective against electric and mental types, but are ineffective against the Fire and Earth types. Crystle is the only one of the three starter Temtem you can capture in the wild (for now, at least). Crystle is a crystal type Temtem and its quite useful t. CrystleĬrystle is a type of crystal and evolves into Sherald at level 30. In this Temtem Crystle Location Guide, I show you the location where you can find Crystle in Temtem. The three are of different types, have different stats, and special benefits. At the start of Temtem, you have to choose from three starters, Crystle, Smazee, and Houchic.

If I’m in the middle of a jump to the right, I can still immediately flip to the left, slash an enemy, and turn right back around. Every movement feels reactive and snappy, giving the game a quicker feel than its inspirations.Ĭyber Shadow even includes midair control of your jumps. Unlike similar games such as Shovel Knight (developed by Yacht Club Games, the publisher behind Cyber Shadow), which featured slow, purposefully delayed jumping, and mechanics that felt like they were ripped from an NES cartridge, Cyber Shadow feels comparatively modern. The game is accompanied by an outstanding chiptune soundtrack.ĭespite its retro style, Cyber Shadow never feels old. Image: Mechanical Head Games/Yacht Club Gamesĭrawing inspiration from NES games like Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man, and Shatterhand, Cyber Shadow uses pixel art to bring out the gorgeous color contrast in each environment and highlight the game’s unique enemy designs. As in most platformers, this means that I spend most of my time jumping over spikes, traps, and dozens of other obstacles, all while using Shadow’s katana to take out the robots that are in my way. Developer Mechanical Head Games has modernized that approach to challenge with Cyber Shadow by making something that lives up to the legacy of those retro games, while also feeling approachable and fair.Ĭyber Shadow is a 2D action-platformer that follows a cyber ninja named Shadow who has to save a dystopian city that’s been overrun by evil machines. Ninja Gaiden, and other ultra-difficult platformers of its era, found charm in making you stick around through each punishing death. Cyber Shadow is inspired by a long line of games that didn’t seem to care whether you enjoyed them. One of the characters, who you’ll be spending a lot of time with, is – in the words of the game – “built like an ox,” with muscles you rarely see on females in a video game.ĭina, who has Jewish and Mexican roots, even mentions periods in a AAA game. The women feel real, and they don’t subscribe to the notion that all on-screen women need to have big breasts and a tiny waist. I will say, though, that the women of The Last of Us Part 2 are some of the most fleshed-out and relatable representations of female characters that I’ve ever come across in a video game. We’ll save that for another (probably much longer) article. There’s a number of other plot points I’d like to discuss here, especially when it comes to both female representation and LGBTQ+ representation in gaming, though this might not be the best place for such a deep-dive into the many, many themes The Last of Us Part 2 addresses. While this adds to the discomfort of playing through the game, it’s definitely off-putting, and even confusing, at points.ĬHaracter & rEPRESENTation Credit: Naughty Dog This presentation of the game works in a fourth-wall-breaking capacity, in that it deconstructs the comforts of linear narrative. Where the first game excels in its simple and emotional storytelling, Part 2 attempts to take on the whole world and see it burn to the ground. Though this serves an overarching purpose, it’s not exactly the most fun to play through the story. Time jumps can be anything from a day to a few days, or even years. The plot is almost too dense, with its many jumps in time doing less to explain the story than it is confusing it. As you jump around in time, you’re untangling a web which arguably never needed to be that tangled in the first place. PlotĪs masterful as the game is in its exploration of emotion, the plot itself sadly isn’t perfect. It’s this discomfort in which lies the true heart of The Last of Us Part 2: it’s a game that forces you to explore the darkest depths of love, hate, hopelessness and despair. The developers have gone out of their way to create a game which, at times, is hard to play through, especially if you’re someone who has been with these characters since the first game launched in 2013. Many parts of the game serve to push the player out of their comfort zone, either through the brutality of on-screen events or through the subversion of expectation. At times, I found myself really needing to push myself forwards as I played through acts that felt inherently wrong to me. The Last of Us Part 2’s gradual collapse into the true horror of destructive human emotion and the perils of an inability to let go leads to some incredibly uncomfortable scenes. By the time the plot really unfolds, she’s a coiled spring ready to attack, fuelled by nothing but her own personal rage. She grows from her experiences, though every encounter she has isn’t necessarily making her a better person as much as they make her an angrier one. Similar to the first game, Ellie’s trip is more symbolic than anything, adopting a “it’s the journey, not the destination” mentality. Ellie encounters enemies we met in the first game (including Runners, Clickers and various human militia factions) as well as some which are new (or have been heavily updated for Part 2). What follows is a traversal across the United States of America, sometimes with companions and sometimes without. Unable to cope with what she has experienced, she leaves the safety of Jackson in pursuit of what some call justice, and others call revenge. One of the most pressing issues we’re introduced to is her attraction to her friend Dina, a young woman who’s just recently broken up with one of Ellie’s friends.Īll is relatively peaceful for the protagonists until an incident occurs which sends Ellie spiralling out of control. It’s a homely community, and Ellie now has the problems of a normal 19-year-old. The residents of Jackson have livestock, electricity, a bar, and even children (importantly the happy giggly kind and not the kind that died a lot in the first game). The duo are now part of a community of survivors who’ve moved on from the early days of the post-Cordyceps-infected world. Ellie and Joel are now older, wiser and have settled into a peaceful routine in Jackson. The Last of Us Part 2 takes places five years after the events of the first game. With that being said, let’s get right into it. We’re not going to delve into too much of the game’s story here, mostly because this is a game that’s best experienced for yourself. So, you can click on one window to jump straight into that. You can place the cursor on an application window name to see what’s going on. This is something we’ve missed in the default macOS dock for long. For instance, if you have two windows open in Chrome, both of them will be displayed side-by-side. Window Grouping refers to the option of bundling multiple windows from a single app. This is where one of the best features of uBar comes in handy. UBar 4 is the best shot when you want to manage multiple windows from multiple apps. Throughout our testing, we did not find the default dock popping up.Īltogether, it feels really easy to install and get started with uBar 4. Interested in the best part? uBar can practically hide the default macOS dock. In short, uBar is offering a navigation experience that is quite different from that of macOS dock. You can access a variety of material using this UI, such as applications, files and some part of system controls as well. This feature is aimed to resemble the Start Menu in Windows. On the left side of the taskbar, you can see a uBar icon as well. It’s a feature you’d have missed while shifting from Windows to macOS, right? Depending on the application, uBar can offer Window Previews as well. You can click on the icon to move to the correct window as well. However, uBar is cleaner and minimalistic.īy default, uBar would show the running apps on your Mac. Yes, the basic design resembles the Windows task-bar you have seen before. Once the installation is done, you can open uBar and see the brand-new taskbar at the bottom of the screen. It’s really easy to get started with uBar 4 on your Mac. It offers the perfect blend of cooler features and maximum control. If you are looking for some radical change from what the default macOS dock offers, uBar is a great choice. It’s quite rich when it comes to features and offers a revamped navigation experience as well. UBar is the best choice when you want a complete dock replacement app for macOS. P.S. Looking for macos Finder alternatives? We’ve also got a list of the Finder replacements which are nice and powerful. These are reasons for people to think of removing the dock from macOS. Sometimes, you need a dock that blends in with your other UI and stuff, right? Well, Apple is not offering that now. You can make a few changes to the way it looks, but it is not enough. When I’m running 10 apps and 20 windows, that can be quite helpful.Ĭustomization isn’t the best part about macOS dock. It’s great to have features like app progress icons, badges and activity. Today, we need more control in handling multiple windows and applications. We also think the UI of the dock is pretty basic. However, when you have too many windows on the screen, the Dock doesn’t help. Of course, you can use multi-finger gestures to move between full-screen windows. The default dock on macOS has no window management features. Windows, for instance, gives you an overview of the PC via the Start Menu. On the other hand, Windows and Linux have made the launch-systems quite awesome. Why is the default macOS Dock not enough?įirst, as we said, Apple has brought no major changes to the dock in the last decade. Let’s have a look at where the default macOS dock falls behind. When you are a professional, there are more reasons to hate the dock than to love it. If you’re a normal user, the dock would be pretty smooth. However, there’s something in macOS that Apple hasn’t really updated in the past decade - Dock.ĭespite being the central element for navigation, macOS dock still lags. Every year, you get some cool features too, like the Dark Mode in macOS Mojave. Apple updates macOS pretty frequently, you know.
